Took some shots today with a Hoya Polarizing Filter (49mm) and I figured out how to actually use it to good effect to boost the colours and reduce glare. I am happy.

35mm Photography
My first roll of 35mm Kodak Gold Film is in from the developers – Overall for a first tester film where I was a little reckless with the shots I think they came out quite well. I had to do a bit of editing just to bring the colours out but other than that they are as shot. No cropping.

Camera: Olympus OM-10
Lens: 50mm (With Hoya Skylight 1B)
Film: Kodak Gold 200

35mm Processing
I have recently picked up 35mm photography again and have sent my first roll of film off to be processed. The camera I have been using is an Olympus OM-10 and Kodak Colour film, I will show the results when they return.
I had one problem, where to get the film developed. Jessops and alike are really average at film processing so I went looking on the net for a small company that had a proven track record and was reliable.
After searching for a while, I found Fuji Digital Imaging a small shop in Burnley, Lancashire. I plan to get all my 35mm Film Processinghere and will show my results when I receive them. But from the reviews I here they offer a fast quality service and that staff are very helpful too.

Justin Bieber has a Biography – Life is Slipping Away
Today I took a nice stroll into W H Smith whilst some flowers were being made for my mom. My girlfriend and I were looking at the kids books (as we are like that) and finding a book called ‘Selfish Pigs by Andy Riley’ hilarious and definitely on a par with’ Bunny Suicides.’
Soon, the smiles stopped and a rant was born. I quick glance and I looked upon the smug face of the ball of sick that is Justin ‘I am a prepubescent dick’ Bieber on closer inspection it turned out to be a biography of the boob in question. I thought to myself what the hell would you write in a biography of a person who is about 10, “I was born, I threw up, I pooedlf and then for some miraculous reason everyone loved me” strung out for 300 FU**ING PAGES! Bi0graphys should be reserved for people who are: A. old enough to write them and B. have a decent story to tell. The kind of people I consider appropriate to biography is Stephen Fry, Stephen Hawking, Jonathan Ive etc people who actually have a story to tell.
The world is going mad! I swear it literally!

The Five Tunnels Cache

My first foray into the world of placing a Geocache came in the form of the ‘Five Tunnels’ Geocache. Except it is not near the 5 tunnels as we couldn’t find a spot. It was fun setting it up, getting permission for the site so the moderator would actually allow me to list it and getting the three finders within one day. Very pleased. Will set some of these up again.
My favourite find story so far is from DaftHead:
Was going for 1st to find as no logs had been posted but I knew it was too good to be true.
Coordinates were a bit out, probably because of tree cover and mother Dafthead found it (bless her she’s 72) She was chuffed to bits with herself as although she’s been with us on several finds now, it’s the first one she’s actually found by herself. Now she reckons she wants her own username and account – how the heck is she going to find them on her own? Oh well, if it keeps her happy!
This page will be updated soon.

The Electric Cinema (Birmingham): Skeletons the Movie
I made my first (and certainly not my last) foray into the independant none multiplex cinema experience yesterday and loved it. The Electric Cinema in Birmingham is the oldest working cinema in England with is art deco interior and exterior and classic ticket stubbs (that put a massive smile on my face.) It was an overall pleasant experience, being able to drink a proper cup of tea while watching a movie is a great experience, it makes it very homely and a nice atmosphere. They also sell a delectable selection of cakes and ice cream that I will delve into the next time I visit which I hope will not be too long away.

Skeletons the Movie
We saw Skeletions the Movie a beautiful British film about exposing the skeletons in the cupboard. To quote the film blurb “A pair of travelling salesmen wander in and out of people’s lives, performing a Procedure whereby hidden secrets and lies are exposed. When they arrive at a remote family home and can’t seem to get the job done, they discover that you can’t always get away from your own skeletons.”
Nick Whitfield deserves the awards the film has rightly received and I would wait in anticipation at his next project. This film has just the right amount of comedy with the dynamaic duo of Davis and Bennett and their relationship with themselves and the job and the drama. It even features the talents of Jason Issacs (hello the Jasson Issacs!) as The Colonel who is such a delightful and talented actor. I would try to hunt this film down ASAP sadly though due to the budget you will have to track down the film by clicking the link below or wait for it be released on DVD which it inevitably will.

Women and Cameras
Now, you may be thinking when you read the title that this would be somewhat dirty but alas you are mistaken. This is a classic Ross rant initiated from last night’s events and my annoyance and blindness caused by it.

Cameras are used for various things, taking pictures of events, places and general stuff like a dog attached to a bike looking a bit depressed.
Men purchase cameras to largely behold them and take pictures of places predominately and the occasional picture of people when your wife/gf demands that you need some record of where you have been with you in it. You therefore look depressed in all images and therefore they all get moved to the trash can (Result!)
Women seem to purchase cameras to exclusely take pictures of themselves in vein poses in various places. You only have to flick to Facebook and you can see it time and time again. This is fine (well it’s really stupid) but what is not fine is what happened last night at the cinema.
We went to see Toy Story 3 again and what a beautiful film it is, charming, funny, scary and sad all in one. Pixar and more importantly John Lasseter is truly a master of great cinema. However, my girlfriend and I were blinded at the start by a bunch of three women/girls taking a picture of them wearing the glasses at the start of the film which truly pissed the hell of me. Why the hell is such an image needed at any point ever, it probably went with a tag line “ha ha, we look like buddy holly and like blinding people behind us before they want a great film” boobs.

Women and cameras, a bad mix!
P.S. Yes this post is contrived, If you are offended by the post. I’m happy.
